The Presidential Council on National Competitiveness holds regular meetings attended by the President on a monthly basis. The agenda of these meetings are made up of new issues for presentation and discussion, and follow-up measures for issues discussed at the previous meeting.

New agenda of the Council's meetings focus on reform initiatives that include a detailed implementation road map for key areas of work such as regulatory reform, public sector innovation, investment promotion, and legal and institutional advancement.

In preparing and presenting new agenda, the Council acts as a coordinator while the relevant government ministry/agency takes the initiative, making organic cooperation with government ministries/agencies possible. This operating framework also allows tasks to be implemented with a full driving force, based on the accountability of government ministries/agencies. Therefore, the Presidential Council on National Competitiveness, rather than competing with government ministries/agencies, maintains a mutually cooperative relationship with government organs. This makes inter-ministerial coordination and cooperation a key function of the Council.

Moreover, to maintain close interaction with the private sector in the process of regulatory reform, the Council has established the Public-Private Joint Implementation Group on Regulator Reform in collaboration with the Korea . Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Joint Group focuses its activities on finding on-site difficulties faced by businesses and cooperating with the government in implementing necessary deregulation policies.

Another notable aspect of the Council is that follow-up measures for issues discussed at the previous meeting are presented to the President and members of the Council at the next meeting. The fact that the President personally reviews the implementation status of the Council's agenda, allows close and continuous monitoring of task implementation. The Council will maintain its focus on the performance of implemented tasks, to achieve optimal results and successful reform.
